MARIE G. KAZEN JUNE 27, 1929 - FEBRUARY 16, 2015 Marie G. Kazen, 85, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 16, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. "Aunt Mimi" will forever be honored for her lifelong commitment to family and for her unselfish sacrifice and generosity. The long-standing matriarch of the family and second mom to her beloved nieces and nephews was known as a loving and charming hostess and spent many wonderful years welcoming family and friends with home cooked (mostly) meals and a sharp wit. No one who visited Casa Kazen ever went hungry (spiritually or otherwise) in "Aunt Mimi's" kitchen. Though all were welcomed with an open heart, everyone at one time or another heard the familiar phrase "stay out of my kitchen" while she worked her magic. She was truly a one-woman show and a force of nature. Her legacy will live on in the young (and not-so-young) men and women whose lives she touched with wit, wisdom, encouragement, and above all, complete and unconditional love. Marie Kazen is preceded in death by her husband Philip Kazen, Sr.; parents, Carlos and Julia Kazen; sister Selma Kazen Gaylor, and brother Mike Kazen. She is survived by her children, Amyra Kazen, Philip (Susan) Kazen, Vincent Kazen; brother Tony (Josie) Kazen, and numerous nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, February 20, 2015 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez from 5 to 9 in the evening. A Rosary will be recited at 7 in the evening. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 departing the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
