MARIA OFELIA “MAE” GALLEGOS
June 28, 1941 – January 04, 2021
As the Lord promised, He reached out for Mae’s hand and led her to heaven to be by His side. A glorious day that Mae had prepared for in accordance to her Christian beliefs and living life in His likeness.
Mae graduated from Martin High School in 1959 and, subsequently, pursued her studies in nursing. Upon graduation she started her career at Mercy Hospital and later at Doctor’s Hospital. In 1985 she retired to care for her first born grandchild, Gerardo Jr., changing her title from “Nurse Mae” to “Nana”. In this new role she would go on to be the most loving and cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She is rejoicing in heaven with her former spouse, who later became her best friend, Pete Gallegos, Sr. and her oldest son, Pete Gallegos Jr. She is also joining her sister Elsa Ballesteros, and parents Beatriz and Desiderio Garcia at the right hand of the Lord.
Mae was an exceptional woman of God, she was always prepared to help anyone in need never expecting anything in return. She lived a fulfilling life centered around God and family, passing away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
She is survived by her children, Pete † (Liliana) Gallegos Jr., Melissa (Alfonso III) Moreno, Gerardo (Rosie) Gallegos, Clarissa (Javier) Sandoval, and Sheldon (Andrea) Gallegos, whom she loved as her own. She is also survived by her brother, Desiderio (Luisa) Garcia; sister, Reyna (Evaristo) Cordova; and her Pastor, Esther Gallegos; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Pete III, Alfonso IV, Armando, Alejandro, Abelardo, Gerardo Jr., Gilbert, Andres and Juancarlos.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters: Deborah, Kristelle, Giana, Giuliana, Vanessa, Viannae, Karla and Karina.
