MARIA S. RUIZ BERNAL
NOVEMBER 26, 1928 – OCTOBER 1, 2020
Mrs. Maria S. Ruiz Bernal, 91, entered into the arms of the loving father in heaven on October 1, 2020, having been surrounded by her loving and caring family at her side. She leaves behind a long line of cherished memories as well as a legacy that will be forever carried on by her family.
Maria was born November 26, 1928 in Laredo, Texas to Antonio & Ernestina Ruiz. She graduated from Martin High School and worked 22 years as a para professional with LISD. Maria was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with family, especially at the arrival of her grandchildren. She was very devoted to the Virgin Mary, always praying for her children through her rosary. Maria enjoyed cross stitching, baking, reading, and was an avid baseball fan. Her greatest passions were God and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Juan Bernal, her parents; Antonio and Ernestina Ruiz, son; Octavio Bernal, siblings; Margarita (Abelardo) Rubio, Antonio (Rebeca) Ruiz, and Santa (Porfirio) Alvarado.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: daughter Rosario (David) Ingraham, daughter Imelda (David) Hayes, daughter Patricia (Jesse) Causey, son Juan (Dora) Bernal, daughter Margie Bernal (Tony Melton), daughter Isela (Joe) Lopez, daughter San Juanita (Eduardo) Cantu, daughter Mercedes (Patrick) Siemsen, son Antonio (Claudia) Bernal, 25 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving condolences on Monday evening, October 5, 2020 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 6 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday morning, October 6, 2020 departing at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Javier Bernal, John Hayes, Daniel Cantu, T.J. Bernal, Antonio Bernal, Jr., and Aaron Siemsen.
Honorary pallbearers are: Esteban Bernal, Kyle Cartwright, Ricardo Bernal, and Fernando Bernal.
