Maria Nela Martinez, 77, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

She is preceded in death by husband Ruben Daniel Martinez, Sr.; parents, Florencio and Lamar Lerma; and a great-grandson, Baby Nicholas Garza.

She is survived by her loving companion of many years, Alejandro Luis Diaz; her children, Ruben Daniel (Aida) Martinez, Jr., Lucio Ernesto (Dora) Martinez, Graciela (Ricardo) Gonzalez, Jorge Alberto Martinez, Adriana (Raul Ballen) Serna, Gustavo (Rebecca) Martinez; her grandchildren, Josefa Lamar Garza, Marissa Y. Gutierrez, Mark Anthony Martinez, Danny R. Martinez, Erica Sanchez, Ricardo Gonzalez, Jr., Jackie Martinez, Jorge Roel Martinez, Deborah Martinez, Jorge Alberto Martinez, Jr., Bonnie Gonzalez, Juan Serna, Joyce Marie Ballen, Vanessa A. Martinez, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sister, Florencio Lerma, Jr., Margarita Mungia, Valentin (Elvira) Lerma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017, from 5 to 9 in the evening at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Rosary will be recited at 7 in the evening.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 departing the funeral home at 8:40 a.m. to San Jose Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
