MARIA MERCEDES CASTILLO

September 22, 1932 – December 13, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Mercedes Castillo, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend, who passed away peacefully, at the age of 92. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family.

Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband Luis Castillo and her son Juan Castillo, both of whom she cherished deeply. She leaves behind her loving children Leticia (Raul) Quintana, Ramiro (Guadalupe) Castillo, and Eduardo Castillo. She was forever loving to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will forever carry the memory of her warmth, laughter, and endless love.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Rosary for the Deceased will commence at 7p.m. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday departing at 9:00 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to San Jose Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30a.m. 

The interment will follow to the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

We wish to thank all our family members who offered their love, support, and companionship throughout her life. Your presence brought great joy to our mother, grandmother, and we are forever grateful. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, healthcare providers, and therapists who cared for Mercedes with such compassion and dedication during her time of need. Your expertise and kindness were a true comfort to her and our family.

Mercedes was always ready with a kind word and an open heart for anyone who needed her. She will be missed but never forgotten, and her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched.

Rest in peace, Mercedes. You are forever in our hearts.
