Maria Estela Guerra Hinojosa May 13, 1927 - February 25, 2014 Maria Estela Guerra Hinojosa has joined the Kingdom of Glory on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Estela, known as "Mom" as she was often called, was known for her gardening and her meticulous ways that built character amongst her children. Amador Hinojosa was truly blessed to have her as his wife of 67 years. She was born on May 13, 1927 to Jesus and Maria G. Guerra. Estella was known as the Queen of McAllen to her family and peers. She was voted most beautiful by her peers as well, where she was a striking redhead that captured the biggest playboy of all, Amador "Amor" Hinojosa. In her earlier years, she was also a successful business owner of a seven operating station beauty salon in McAllen, Texas. She moved to Laredo, Texas when her husband was transfered with Missouri Pacific Railroad. She started a new business within her home where she established many loyal customers and she was known for the Stevenson Hair Cut. She enjoyed life to the fullest and had a very rich life where she and her Amor traveled the world. Estella was also known to have the most beautiful yard with the most stunning garden. She was a devoted Christian and loved her church, "The Church of the Crossroads", where she was known as "Darling" because she would approach strangers and asked them "Darling, do you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior?" To this day many people have shared their stories with the family on how Mrs. Hinojosa had helped them become saved into the Kingdom of God. Mother is dancing in the streets of Gold with her creator. Estella will be missed by many; she was extremely generous with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always wanted to make sure that each one had the best of everything she can give them. Her famous words, "The Lord will always provide, he will never leave us nor forsake us". She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Maria Guerra; brothers, Joe Guerra and Ramiro Guerra. She is survived by her loving husband, Amador Hinojosa Jr. of 67 years; her loving children, Veronica Hinojosa Tijerina (Raul Tijerina), Vilma Hinojosa Volz (Jim Volz), Viola Hinojosa Rees (Bill Rees), Juan Jose J.J. Hinojosa (Rebecca M. Hinojosa), David (Mauree Hinojosa); her loving grandchildren, Shannon Y. Quinn, Siobhan A. Quinn, William Billy Rees, Evan M. Rees, Thomas E. Rees, Andrea C. Mercado, Alberto Mercado, Eduardo Mercado, Hunter Hinojosa, Hannah L. Hinojosa, Brenica Hinojosa, David Hinojosa, Michael Hinojosa, Anabel Hinojosa, and Amador A. Hinojosa; her loving great grandchildren, Cristel A. Rosales, Jacob Q. Rosales, Carlos M. Ruiz, Ryan M. Rees, Dante de Jesus Rees, and Thomas N. Rees. As well as by her loving sisters, Alicia Anzaldua of McAllen, TX; Hilda Ceballos of Detroit, MI; and her loving brother, George Guerra of Mc Allen, TX. In addition, numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Adonis Zuniga-Goldwater, MD., Dr. Carlos Cigarroa, MD, Dr. Rafael J. Deliz, MD, and the staff (ICU) of Doctors Hospital of Laredo that worked countless hours during her short stay. In addition we would like to thank her Pastors, Sandra and Norman Howell and her Christian family. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels; 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Prayer Service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. A Chapel Service officiated by Pastor Norman Howell will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 01, 2014 at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels; 1410 Jacaman Rd. Interment will then follow to the Laredo City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Evan Rees, Thomas Rees, Bill Rees, William Rees, Raul Tijerina, Hunter Hinojosa, Alberto Mercado, and Eduardo Mercado. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jacob Quinn Rosales, Cristel Andrea Rosales, Ryan M. Rees, Dante De Jesus Rees, and Carlos Miguel Ruiz.
