MARIA VELIA GARZA

AUGUST 14, 1926 – JANUARY 07, 2019

Mrs. Maria Velia Garza, 92, entered into the loving presence of Our Lord on January 7, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her mother Clotilde Garza; her son David A. Herring; “special uncle and aunt” Tomas and Rosa Vela; and her father Genaro Garza.

Left to cherish her memory are her grandson Matthew David (Amanda) Herring; granddaughter Analisa (Nathan) Villarreal; great-grandchildren, Brady David Herring and Chloe Elizabeth Herring; daughter-in-law JoAnn (Benny Soto) Herring; half siblings, Veronica Garza and Gerardo Garza. She is also survived numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, January 11, 2019 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, January 12, 2019 departing at 10:40 a.m. from the funeral chapel to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
