Maria Enriqueta Campbell Wood passed away on June 24, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Queta was born in Laredo on March 11, 1952 and lived there until her mid-30s. She most recently lived in Round Rock, Texas.

A retired educator, Queta will be missed by an extensive network of family, friends, colleagues, and students who enjoyed her buoyant, positive, and high-energy personality. She graduated from the University of Texas-Austin in 1974 and returned to Laredo when she married Roberto Salinas. After their two children, Roxanne and Roberto, Jr., were attending school, she worked at Laredo Community College as a fashion merchandising professor. Later she moved to Fredericksburg, Johnson City, and Round Rock and taught Spanish at the middle and high school levels. She married Gary Wood in 2015 and retired in 2016.

She is preceded in death by her father Arturo Campbell, Sr. She will be buried beside him in a private ceremony at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Queta is survived by her mother Emma Campbell; brother, Arturo (Adriana) Campbell; sisters, Liz (Scott) Campbell Stephens and Thelma Campbell; daughter, Roxanne (Diego) Funes; son, Roberto (Alyssa) Salinas, Jr.; and granddaughters, Emma and Lillian Funes. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Vanessa Campbell, Arturo Campbell, Jr., Michelle Vekasy, and Michael Vekasy.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels located at 1410 Jacaman Rd.
