Mrs. Elida G. Valdez a wonderful and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend passed away peacefully on December 26, 2016. She now makes her graceful journey to Heaven.
She was a very strong, loving, caring woman who never gave up on life. She graced the lives of many family and friends. She was always the hero to people who needed her in life to keep moving forward. She was always ready to give a helping hand to those who needed her. The Lord took one of his greatest creations after she shared her love with this world
Elida is preceded in her passing by her husband, Cristobal Valdez; parents; Silverio and Maria del Refugio Garza; brothers and sisters; Cristina Garza, Maria Guerra, Hector Garza, Gustavo Garza.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children: David Valdez, Leticia (Jose) Castillo, Sister Isidra Valdez SSHJP, Jose Daniel (Alma) Valdez, Margarita (Reyes) Lara, Esperanza (David) Vela, Maria Luisa (Marcelino Vega) Valdez; grandchildren Monica Valdez, Gina Valdez, Erin (Vid) Luther, Josh Livingston, Christina (Jason) Ward, David (Lisa) Castillo, Patricia Castillo, Joey (Debbie) Castillo, Rudy Valdez, Daniel (Lucy) Valdez, David Valdez, Tommy Valdez, Ricardo (Ari) Valdez, Luis (Margie) Valdez, Jennifer (Max) Avila, David (Hydee) Vela Jr., Luis Vela, Chris Lee Ann Aleman, Victoria (Jesse Barron Jr.) Vega, Mary Ann (Jaime) Gonzalez, Christopher Vega, Joaquin and Elida Danielle (Francisco Avila) Vega as well as by 41 great grandchildren and her only sister, Francisca Torres. She was further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 4 pm to 9 pm at the Sacred Heart Children's Home, 3310 S. Zapata Hwy, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Children's home at 9:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow via procession to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
