Maria de la Luz (Lucy) Lozano, 93, of Laredo, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Lucy was born and raised in Laredo where she was blessed with a wonderful marriage of 66 years to her husband, Cesar J. Lozano. She was a very kind and loving wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a devout and faithful Catholic that served the Lord throughout her life. Lucy enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her Christmas hojarascas. She also enjoyed making her special Mexican hot chocolate that everyone truly savored. Lucy took great pride and joy in loving and caring not only her immediate family, but for her extended family and friends. After all, 5 of her children were well into their own lives, Lucy pursued working for Montgomery Wards when it opened in Laredo in 1978. She worked there for over 10 years and received numerous awards for her outstanding dedication in sales and customer relations.
After she retired, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, children, brothers, and sisters. When she was not traveling, Lucy had a daily routine of walking the mall with her husband, Cesar, to get their morning exercise. Afterwards, they would join an endearing group of friends for their cafecito social hour. They always made time to visit loved ones and friends that were sick or in need of some assistance, and offered their love and support. She especially loved the memorable family gatherings that were filled with love, music, and laughter. Lucy also enjoyed the special moments with her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends that would visit throughout the year.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Deacon Frank Idrogo. The family appreciated the time he took to be a spiritual support to Mom and for delivering communion to her each Sunday.
She is preceded in passing by her parents: Teodoro and Guadalupe Sanchez; husband, Cesar J. Lozano; son Cesar J. Lozano Jr.; and siblings: Manuela S. Reyna, Gilberto C. Sanchez, Teresa S. Herrera, Hortencia S. Alvarado, Graciela S. Govea, and Leopoldo Sanchez.
