MARIA MORLETT CASTRO
June 19, 1926 ~ May 23, 2011
On the morning of Monday, May 23, 2011, in the early hours, God called our dear mother, grandmother, and friend, Mrs. Maria Morlett Castro, 84, to her heavenly home.-She was born on June 19, 1926 to Manuel and Benita Morlett in Laredo, TX and had been a resident of Laredo for most of her life.-She grew up in Laredo and as a young girl met the love of her life, Ruben Castro, who predeceases her.-Her two children are a testament of the love and care she had for them, as well their children, who follow in the footsteps of their elders; always loving, respectful and cherishing the memories they will now hold in their hearts.
Mrs. Castro enjoyed birds, their colors, singing, always seeing them as God's gift.-She was an avid Bingo player, spending time every Sunday at Border Bingo.-Although she is gone, she will never be forgotten and those memories shall always and forever be in our hearts and our minds.-We thank you for being our mom, we will miss you, but we are confident that you are now in God's heavenly home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Castro; parents:-Manuel and Benita Morlett; brothers, Jose, Manuel and Pablo and sister Consuelo Vasquez.
Cherishing the memories left behind are her children,-Raymond (Blanca) Castro and Norma (Jose) Cisneros; grandchildren, Ruben (Ashley) Castro, Amy (Marc) Castro-Lopez, Kevin Castro, Stephanie, Denise and Megan Cisneros, as well as her two adoring great-grandchildren, Ryan and Rebecca Castro.-She is also survived by her extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 5 to 9 in the evening at the Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez; a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
The funeral procession will depart the chapel on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 8 a.m. to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for a Liturgy of the Word and Communion Service at 8:30 a.m.-Rev. Deacon Anastacio Bernal will officiate.
Rite of Committal and Interment will be held at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
A heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Doctors and Staff at Laredo Specialty Hospital and especially Dr. Gilberto Garza Lozano and Dr. Benson Huang for their dedicated care and attention provided to our dear Maria.
