MARIA LUISA BENAVIDEZ February 24, 1923 - April 30, 2015 Our Lord welcomed his beloved daughter Maria Luisa Benavidez into His eternal kingdom on April 30, 2015. She was a beautiful lady and will be missed tremendously by everyone who knew and loved her. Maria Luisa "Lica" graduated from Martin High School in 1943. She retired from Southwestern Bell after 25 years of service. She met and married Daniel Benavidez when he served as an Airman at Laredo Air Force Base in October 1959. She followed him and lived in Lakenheath, England, and Little Rock Air Force Base and finally to Laredo after he retired. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her great sense of humor, and her tireless sense of adventure. She definitely lived her life to the fullest and her motivation was a great inspiration to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Benavidez, her parents, Isabel and Ramon Ibarra; brothers, Raul (Luisa), Jose (Sara), and Alberto (Guadalupe) Ibarra; sister, Virginia (Joe) Alonzo; brother-in-law Francisco Alonzo; her nephews, Ramon and Eduardo Ibarra. She is survived by her loving sister, Margarita Alonzo; her son, Daniel (Diana) Benavidez; grandchildren, Amanda and Daniel Joseph; great granddaughter, Sophie; nephew, Gerardo (Abby) Alonzo, and their children, Jerry (Monica) Alonzo, Angela (Salvador) De Llano, Jennifer Butcher, Joe Moses Butcher; grandnieces and nephews, Jerry "JT", Mario, Diego, Vida, Jada, Sadie, Kate, and David; her beloved nieces, Elena Ibarra, Elisa (Conrado) Rodriguez, Elvira (Tom) Fitzgerald, Olga Ibarra and Beatriz Ibarra; as well as her loving family in California, Nevada, New Mexico, Ricardo (Carole) Ibarra, Olivia Escobedo, Ofelia (Hector) Jimenez, Toni (Richard) Pacheco, and their children and grandchildren. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Luis Benavides and Charles Brunner for their kindness and professionalism. Also, to the staff of Café wing at Regent care nursing home for their compassion and dedication to the care of our mother. The family will gather to celebrate her life the evening of Sunday, May 03, 2015 from 5 to 9 in the evening. A Rosary shall be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral procession will depart on Monday, May 04, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Interment will then follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
