Maria Aguero

March 18, 1942 — October 29, 2015

Maria Luisa Aguero, a most faithful and loving servant, was called home by our gracious, merciful, loving Lord on Thursday October 29, 2015. She died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Jarita, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on March 18, 1942, Maria Luisa was the eldest child of Francisco Berlanga, now deceased, and Maria de Jesus Bautista. A positive and loving spirit, Maria Luisa was a faithful servant of God, caring for family and friends alike. Treasuring a full house on holidays, serving up her most scrumptious meals of traditional Mexican dishes and sweets brought her pleasure. Spending time at the family ranch in Botines where people were welcomed from near and far for communal celebrations and fellowships was another of her most favorite past times. Service played a significant role in her life, working many Cursillo retreats and volunteering at church Jamaicas. She was instrumental in utilizing her passion for cooking and serving in order to raise money to aid in the conversion of The Mission of Holy Family into Holy Family Catholic Church, the robust existing church it is today. Maria Luisa welcomed many priests into her home, one of them being Fr. Bernardino Herrero . She also served as a volunteer at both Mercy and Doctors Hospital. Gardening, traveling and spending time with her dear friends, her hermanitas, Irene Hurtado, Lourdes Torres, Blanca Delgado, and Santa Espinoza, as well as all the ladies from the Doctors Hospital Auxiliary also brought her much joy. Nana, as she was affectionately known, is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 60 years, Jose Teodoro, her children, Jesus (Liana Cynthia), Eduardo (Maria Elena), Jose Armando (Alexandra), Teodoro, Jr. (Leticia), and Mario Alberto (Davyne); her adored grandchildren, Cynthia Selina Cortinas (Juan F. III), Erika Christina Olivares(Ricardo), Jessica Yvonne Gaona (Adrian), Eduardo Jr., Catalina Alexis (Jose Luis Cardenas), Roberto Javier, Teodoro III, Marco Antonio, Jose Armando, Jr. (Angelina), Rogelio Gerardo (Eliana), Elysee Judith and Anneka Amelie; and her great-grandchildren, Gabriela Itzel & Xiomara Isabella Cortinas; Ricardo Jesus, Milania Alejandra & Cristian Gael Olivares; Alexzandra Izabel and Jose Luis Cardenas IV; Jose Armando III and Alejandro Julian Aguero; Rogelio Gerardo, Jr., Anaile, Alegra and Ameli Aguero. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Vicente (Olga) Berlanga, Jesus (Rachel), Mauro (Anita), Francisco, Jr. (Grace), Roberto, Agapito, Maria Teresa Coronado, Janie (Rodolfo) Gomez, and Graciela Herrera . The family expresses special gratitude to caretakers, Maria Elena Eguia, Amalia Aguilar, Yanira Carrillo and Sylvia Carrillo.
