MARC DAVID BARRERA MAY 10, 1982 - MARCH 8, 2015 "Faith is the only investment that never loses interest" A smile that could light up a room. His smile was infectious, it was impossible not to smile back. If his smile was big, his laughter was even more so. Few people have a sense of humor as grand as his, always quick with a line or two that were sure to have you laughing out loud. Big smile, huge laugh, larger than life personality. Marc was a loving, caring and giving soul. Quick to give a helping hand to anyone in need, but he would move mountains for those he loved. Marc David was a loving son, brother, cousin, grandson and nephew. He was in love with his family and demonstrated his love openly. Marc David was a man of great character. Character he demonstrated from a very young age. He was an ROTC cadet his 4 years at United High School. Marc enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduating high school and served his country proudly and with honor. He began his service on board the USS Inchon as a Signalman Seaman and quickly secured Top Secret clearance on board the USS Preble a guided missile destroyer. Marc David's job consisted in sending and receiving messages through Morse code, semaphore or through the use of national and international flags. Marc was on the USS Preble during the Operation Iraqi Freedom coalition effort. Marc wasted no time after serving his country to pursue an education, earning a degree in Business Finance from TAMIU. He was self-motivated and was a warehouse of information. He had a wealth of knowledge and a deep love of learning, always seeking to become a better man. Anyone who knew Marc knew he was an avid Aggie fan. He was a great athlete who loved the outdoors. His music of choice was country. He wore a big cowboy hat to crown his beautiful smile.
