Manuelita Guajardo Juarez, 107, a lifetime Laredo resident passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 6, 2015. She was the last of the pioneer families to have settled in Laredo in the 18th century. She was an avid seamstress and spent much of her time sewing curtains and clothing for her grandchildren. One of her greatest accomplishments was sewing the wedding dress for her first granddaughter when she married. She also enjoyed spending time watering her many plants and flowers in her garden. She lived to see up to the fifth generation of her family. She will be missed dearly by all who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Rafaela Guajardo; her husband, Victorino Juarez; brothers, Abelino, Alberto, Guadalupe, and Jose Guajardo; sisters, Adela and Eligia Guajardo, and Tomasita Lopez, and sons-in-law, Jose Ramirez and Agustin Magallanes. She is survived by her daughters Maria Minerva Juarez Ramirez, Rosa Alicia Juarez Sciaraffa (Salvador), and Amelia Juarez Magallanes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joe (Maria) Ramirez, Minerva (Bobby) Garcia, Daniel (Irma) Ramirez, Rosa Amelia Salinas, Ricardo Ramirez, Victor Tomas (Lisa) Ramirez, Margarita (Ted) Nigro, Beatriz (Richard) Martinez, Sara Ramirez, Salvador Sciaraffa Jr., Victor Manuel (Francis) Sciaraffa, Diana Sciaraffa, Agustin Antonio (Patricia) Magallanes, Amelia Alicia (Gilbert) Arguijo, and Ariadne Alejandra (Jose) Gonzalez. She is also survived by her 23 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren as well as numerous special nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to her longtime physicians, Drs. Eduardo and Jorge Gomez Vasquez. A special thank you to Healing Hands, APC Home Health Services, Altus Hospice Care, and to her providers Francis Elift, Pureza Estrada, and Claudia Estrada. The family will receive condolences Sunday, February 08, 2015 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., with a Rosary scheduled to commence at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, February 09, 2015 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will then follow to the Laredo City Cemetery.
