Mrs. Magdalena Zardenetta Gabrillo, 92, of Buda, Texas, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012.-Magdalena, (Nenita, as she was known to everyone) was born July 22, 1920 in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Jose and Teodora (Ortiz) Zardenetta.-She attended the local schools.-Nenita was a self taught seamstress and for many years made costumes for school programs at Montrose Grammar School and uniforms for young ladies at Ursuline Academy, wedding gowns, bridesmaids and Quinceanera dresses.-She also loved to crochet and did so with a passion until she lost her eyesight several years ago.-She lived in Laredo most of her life moving to Buda to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Susana and Bob, after the death of her husband, Raymond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond in 1998, an infant child Guillermo in 1959, a daughter Patricia Ann in 2007, her only sibling, Jose Zardenetta Jr in 2012, 2 grandsons, Christopher Oetting and Enrique Mayers III, and a great granddaughter, Tatiana Mayers.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Susana-Mayers(Bob) Moore of Buda, Evangelina Mayers (Steve) Henry of Solomon, Kansas, Veronica Gabrillo Oetting of Houston, Lourdes Gabrillo Riojas of Laredo, and 3 sons; Enrique Mayers(Jocelyn) of the Philippines, Raymond Gabrillo Jr. (Alma) of Laredo, and Richard Mark Gabrillo (Juanita) of Solomon, Kansas. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
At Thanksgiving, with the majority of the family present, she announced her wishes to be cremated.
