Lupita S. Howard, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 12, 2013.-Lupita was born on May 31, 1944, in Laredo, Texas.
Lupita graduated from Texas A&I University with a B.S. in Mathematics and an M.S. in History.-She was the President of Webb County T.R.T.A., and a member of the Alpha New Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma.-Lupita also taught at Lamar Middle School and Martin High School until she retired in 1997.
Lupita was a devout Catholic who volunteered her services as a lector at Christ the King Catholic Church and the Diocesan library. Amongst her many accomplishments, she also acquired many passions in life such as travelling with her husband, antiquing, home decorating, shopping, and celebrating special occasions with her family.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the many students she mentored during her teaching career.
Lupita was preceded in death by her husband: Emmett Lee Howard, Jr., and parents: Sabino and Aurora Salazar.
She is survived by her sister: Juanita S. Benavides, brother-in-law: Jose E. Benavides, nephews: Rene R. Benavides, Daniel D. Benavides; niece: Joanna A. (Joseph Lee) Richter, and her grand niece: Katelyn Melissa Richter.
