Luis Alberto Murillo entered into the heavenly kingdom of our Lord on the feast of the Archangels, Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Laredo, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Luis was born February 14, 1946 in Pamplona, Spain-to the late Luis Murillo Ozcoidi-and surviving mother Maria Luisa Murillo Zunzarren. As a young child, he migrated with his family to the United States in 1953 and settled in Laredo, Texas. After graduating from Martin High School, he received a B.S in Education from Southwest Texas State University and a M.A. in School Administration from Laredo State University.
He married Linda Rose Canales in San Antonio, Texas on June 22, 1969. Shortly after, he began his teaching career as a Math and Science teacher.-His love and passion for teaching, made an impact on the lives of many students he taught. His dedication and commitment in watching his students succeed, gave him great pride and joy. He not only taught subject matter but focused also on character building in order for his students to develop a sense of worth, dignity and self respect, while also instilling in them the necessity to achieve a higher education. He was truly a teacher at heart. His greatest pride and achievement was becoming an administrator with the United Independent School District in 1983. He thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of school administration and took great pride in being a role model to his students as well as being an effective leader and mentor.-Luis was a devoted member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and served his Lord and Savior as a member of the Blessed Sacrament Knights of Columbus Council 10939, where he was a Past Grand Knight for the 2011-2012 term. He loved life and spent many wonderful times with his wife Linda. He thoroughly enjoyed playing golf with his brother and friends. His favorite past time was watching the Dallas Cowboys.
Luis was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He is preceded in death by his twin sons Luis Antonio and Jose Luis Murillo, father Luis Murillo Ozcoidi, father and mother -in- law Joe and Carolina Canales, and sister-in-law Esperanza Canales. He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife Linda Rose Murillo, mother Maria Luisa Murillo, brother Jose Ramon (Nora) Murillo, sister-in-law Laura (Mario) Rodriguez, brother-in-law Joe (Joanne)-Canales, numerous nieces and nephews in addition to an extended loving and caring family. He is also survived by many wonderful friends. He will be greatly missed.
A very special thanks to Dr. Carlos Casas, administration and staff of Retama South and Nurses on Wheels, who provided the special care and love during our difficult times.
Pallbearers will be: Joey Murillo, Javi Murillo, Joseph Canales, Mario Rodriguez, Alvaro Gutierrez, Luis Ayala.
