Lucila "Chila" Trevino, was born in Kingsville, TX to Jose Maria and Mariana Trevino on September 10, 1930, and passed away February 24, 2011.-Chila graduated from King High School in 1948 and from Texas A&I in 1952.-Before graduating from A&I, she met the love of her life, Vidal M. Trevino.-Chila began teaching the 1st Grade in Alice, TX while Vidal was in the Army in Korea.-They married in 1953 and moved to Laredo where Chila continued her teaching career at Leyendecker Elementary.-In 1958, she began teaching the 1st Grade at M.S. Ryan Elementary where she taught in Room 16 for the next 39 years. She loved teaching children but most especially loved everything about being a part of Ryan.
Chila loved her Wednesday Lunch Club, baking goodies for her family and friends, as well as making candy.-She loved traveling to many beautiful locations around-America.-She had been a member of the Society of Martha Washington since 1972, was chosen as a recipient of the Golden Apple Award, and Woman of the Year.--
Chila was preceded in death by the love of her life, Vidal M. Trevino, her parents, Jose Maria and Mariana Trevino, her sisters Esperanza "Quico" (Jesus) Marroquin, Dolores "Lola" (Samuel) Cuellar, Isabel "Chabela" (Alex) Canales.-
She is survived by her children, David V. (Marissa) Trevino, Nelda Trevino, Christina (Mike) Dancause, Daniel W. (Lizette) Trevino, and Roberto W. Trevino.-She is also survived by her grandchildren, David V. Trevino, Jr., Ariana A. Trevino, Bella Grace Dancause, and Michael David Dancause, her brother Enrique (Carolina) Trevino, her sister-in-law, Zulema (Raul) Garcia, and numerous nephews, nieces, friends, other members of her extended family and a special abrazo to Rosie Garcia.-
The Trevino Family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to her doctor and long-time friend Dr. Joaquin Cigarroa and her corazon, Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa.
