LILIA M. HERRERA
February 22, 1945- August 11, 2023
Lilia M. Herrera, 78, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Friday, August 11, 2023.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Alfonso and Lilia Mendiola; her beloved husband Daniel Herrera; her sisters, Martha M. Mendez and Yvonne M. Gutierrez; and her nieces, Maribelle C. Garza and Lily Mendez.
Lily attended Laredo public schools, graduating from Martin High School in 1963. She attended Texas Woman’s University and obtained an Associate’s Degree from Laredo Junior College. Lily also worked at The Union National Bank for a few years, before starting her career in education. She was an educator at Martin High School for 39 years. Lily enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved ones and tending to her garden. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Michelle (Gilberto Jr.) Iruegas, Marissa Herrera, Daniel Herrera, Jr.; grandchildren; Annalise Iruegas, Isela Iruegas, Isaiah Herrera; her siblings, Tonie (Hector †) Cerda, Alfonso (Annie) Mendiola, Jr., and Grace M. (Jerry) Garza; her brother-in-law Julio Mendez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday morning, August 16, 2023 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; then departing at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the U.S. Veterans Section of the Laredo City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Hector Cerda, Jr., Jaime Cerda, Javier Cerda, Eduardo Garcia, Ricardo Garcia, Jr., Gilberto Iruegas, Jr., and Heraldo Salinas.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mateo Reyes, Dr. Eduardo Miranda, Dr. Alfredo Camero, Dr. Alejandro Pruitt, and the Altus Hospice personnel.
