Leonor de la Garza Frierson, of Austin, Texas, died on Monday, November 14, 2011. She was born on September 23, in Laredo, Texas, to Adolfo Carlos de la Garza and Maria de Jesus de la Garza.
Leonor received her Bachelors of History Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She went on to teach at the elementary school level until a year before her marriage to Edward Bernard Frierson.
Leonor was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, and San Agustin Cathedral in Laredo, Texas and St. Theresa Catholic Church in Austin, Texas.
She enjoyed reading, birdwatching, puzzles and gathering genealogy information on her family. She loved talking about her children and grand-children.
Leonor was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, Edward B. Frierson and sisters, Lucila de la Garza, Estela de la Garza and Elena de la Garza.
She is survived by her daughter, Leonor Frierson-Stroud, M.D., and her husband David; daughter, Carla Schmissranter and her husband Kevin; son, Edward B. Frierson, Jr., and his wife Debra; sister, Olga de la Garza of Laredo, Texas;-brother, A.C. de la Garza, Jr., and his wife Edna of Laredo, Texas; grandchildren, David Stroud, Jr., of Austin, Texas, Jennifer Holler and her husband Steve of Kyle, Texas, Olivia Frierson of Austin, Texas, and James Frierson of Austin, Texas; great-grandson, Jackson Holler; nephews, A.C. de la Garza of Austin, Texas, Pepe de la Garza and his wife Alejandra of Austin, Texas, Jaime de la Garza and his wife Meri of Austin, Texas, and Raul de la Garza and his wife Christie of San Antonio, Texas.
