It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Cavazos Zepeda, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on January 11, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on May 8, 1951, Laura dedicated her life to nurturing and uplifting those around her, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Laura devoted over 30 years to the family business, Cavazos Candy Produce & Grocery Wholesale, Inc., where she played a pivotal role in its management. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Maria Luisa Cavazos, Sr., and her brother, Ruben (Norma) Cavazos, Jr.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Julio Cesar Zepeda, her children, Carolina Zepeda, Julio Cesar (Cecilia) Zepeda, Miriam Zepeda, Jessica Yvette (Pablo) Martinez, Marylou (Melchor) delaGarza, grandchildren, Maryel Zepeda, Julio Zepeda, Joanna Zepeda, Zachary Martinez, Analisa “Nana” delaGarza, Nathan Martinez, Laura “Wawi” delaGarza, Melchor “Chorcy” delaGarza, Jr., great-grandchildren, Emmy Guevara, Emma Guevara, Max Guevara. She is also survived by her siblings, Ricardo (Alma) Cavazos, Javier Cavazos, Anna Maria (Geraud) Gonzales, Rosa Elia (Mark) Rosteet, Elsa Cavazos, Lilia (Todd) Keller, and Mary Lou (Xavier) Gonzalez; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, January 16, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, January 17, 2025 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be: Ricardo Cavazos, Jr., Daniel Villarreal, Rodolfo Garcia, Julio Esteban Zepeda, Julio Zepeda and Melchor delaGarza.
