June Leyendecker

May 25, 1930 — November 20, 2014

Mrs. June Eloise Garza Leyendecker, 84, was called to the presence of the Lord God Almighty the morning of Thursday the 20th of November 2014, while being surrounded by her immediate family at her side. June Eloise was born in Laredo, Texas on May 25, 1930 to Manuel and Dahlia G. Garza. She was raised in Laredo and went on to become an educator, nurse, spouse and mother. June was a Registered Nurse for many years, having at one point worked three jobs both in the medical field as well as the educational field. In the field of education, June became the first H.O.S.A. teacher at the program's inception. She was a proud "Tiger". Her love of work, family and God were always evident. She leaves behind many great memories in the hearts and minds of those who knew her and especially those whose life she touched. Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 59 years of marriage: Mr. Gilbert L. "BB" Leyendecker, Sr.; children: Dr. Sandra Ann Leyendecker, Jessica Leyendecker Walker and Gilbert L. (Denise) Leyendecker, Jr., as well as her adored grandchildren: James Patrick Walker, Jr., Amanda Emma L. Walker, Jordan Leyendecker and Lauren Leyendecker; great-grandson: Christopher Travis Fernandez Walker. The family would like to thank her caregivers for their care and attention given to June: Rosie and Socorro, whose help was God sent in our time of need. In keeping June's tradition of giving, we humbly request those wishing to make a kind gesture of faith to do so to her favorite charity: St. Jude's Hospital for Children, www.stjude.org. Funeral services were held privately on Friday the 21st of November 2014 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in the morning at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Stanley Sliwiak, PhD., officiated the mass. Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Calvary Catholic CemeteryAltar Section, where she was laid to rest in the family plot. Condolences may be sent to the family online at: www.joejacksonfuneralchapels.com. Arrangements were entrusted to the funeral service professionals at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., Laredo, Texas 78041, (956) 722.8850.
