Julia Quintanilla

April 12, 2019 — February 8, 2014

Julia T. Quintanilla, born in Paras, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, answered the ultimate and Devine call of the Lord, surrounded by her loving family to receive eternal rest in the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, February 08, 2014. She was 94 years old. She was predeceased by her husband, Gustavo Quintanilla Rodriguez, and by the youngest of her eight children, Rogelio Quintanilla. She is survived by her loving sister, Guadalupe Granado; her daughters, Irma Sara (Guadalupe) Navarro; Maria Magdalena ( Jorge) Sanchez; Rosalinda Q. Benavides; and Alicia Quintanilla; her sons, Gustavo T. (Rosalinda) Quintanilla; Arnulfo T. Quintanilla; Amado T. (Laura) Quintanilla; and by 29 grand-children and 26 great-grand-children. Doa Julia, as she was affectionately known by all, lived up to the Doa prefix. She was a woman of character and strong convictions. She was blessed with a marvelous mind which she maintained intact well into her advanced age. She kept up with current events and never failed to move forward with the times. She loved and enjoyed music and films from Mexico's "Epoca de Oro." She also cherished the memories of her 90th birthday celebration held at the Monte Carlo in Laredo, and often looked upon that event as one of the major highlights of her life; as it brought together a great number of family members, whom though, separated geographically were unequivocally united by love and by the meaning of family unity. Educated by life and life experiences, she possessed wisdom beyond belief, and was never too bashful, nor timid to express her point of view. She was both, revered and respected by her extended family, many of whom considered her their "second Mother". She was often sought after by her family for advice; and no topic was ever off-limits. Everyone knew that in her, they could always find a loving and caring confidant, and that all issues or concerns shared with her would remain safely and hermetically sealed within the confines of a vault, which was that great and wonderful heart of hers. The Quintanilla family extends its expressions of gratitude to the people who gave so much of their time, knowledge and efforts in providing healthcare for our beloved, Julia, among whom, are Dr. Winder Vasquez for his relentless medical care; to the staff of nurses and CNAs at Laredo Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, whose loving care made her stay there pleasant and dignified; to Mr. Leo Garza and his staff in the emergency room and Intensive Care Unit of Doctors Hospital of Laredo; thank you for the professionalism, and compassion demonstrated during our time of need; and to our beloved Julia's Guardian Angels, Elisa Gonzalez, Linda Aparicio, Raquel Olachea, and Rosario Ortega for jointly and individually lifting our beloved Julia's spirits with love and diligence.
