Julia Gomez

Mrs. Julia A. Gomez passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 10, 2018. She was 91 years old.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Gomez, Sr. and her son Luis Gomez; brother Fabian Abrego.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Jose Gomez, Jr., Raul (San Juanita) Gomez, Hector (Carmen) Gomez, Irma (Arturo) Hilario, 19 grandchildren: San Juanita Hachar, Jose Gomez, III, Anthony Gomez, Adriana Hernandez, Lorraine Gomez, Eleden Benavides, Luis Gomez, Jr., Ramiro Gomez, Danny Gomez, David Gomez, Nelly Vela, Roberto Gomez, Raul Gomez, Jr., Armando Gomez, Jesus Gomez, Selina Costabella, Cristina Gomez, Arturo Hilario Jr., Alberto Hilario, as well as 33 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Gomez worked for L.I.S.D. Food Service Department for many years, as well as for San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Sociedad del Altar. She will forever be remembered for her work ethic and always providing for her family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:45 a.m. to San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Arturo Hilario Jr., Alberto Hilario, Luis Gomez Jr., Raul Gomez Jr., Anthony Gomez, Oscar Benavides Jr., Ruben Benavides and Alex Costabella.
