Juanita Garcia

November 4, 1945 — July 8, 2015

JUANITA H. GARCIA November 04, 1945 - July 08, 2015 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I, who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." Galatians2:20 On Wednesday July the 8th a loving, devoted, caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister went to be with her Lord and Savior. Born in Laredo, Texas on the 4th of November 1945, she attended and graduated from Martin High School and received an associate's degree in bookkeeping from Laredo Community College. She met the love of her life Ricardo Garcia and married him on January 12th, 1964. Juanita was a bright and successful business woman, working at Sears and then later at the Sheriff's department where she made and kept many lasting friendships. Eventually, she and her husband opened a successful autoglass shop called "Garcia's Autoglass". She was a dedicated Catholic serving her Lord as a lector and a Eucharistic minister at San Augustin Church. Her love and dedication for helping people spilled into the community as she was a dedicated literacy volunteer, volunteering endless hours. Juanita was the rock and matriarch of the family; she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and her extended grandchildren. She was at every possible function to support them with a gleam in her eye; she was and always will be their biggest fan. Two of her most noted talents were cooking and gardening. Some of her dishes that will surely be missed will be her peach cobbler, pecan sandies, guisado, and her delectable Lenten dishes. Having a green thumb always kept her busy and her yard beautiful. With a firm hand she led her family but was always known to be the life of the family gatherings. Her spunky personality, sharp wit, and humor always kept everyone in stitches; she had an incredible memory and a knack for telling jokes (chistes). She was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Ernestina R. Herrera, her brother Rafael Herrera Jr. and her in laws Melecio and Rosa Garcia. Juanita is survived by her husband of 51 years Ricardo Garcia; siblings Isabel (Celso) Sanchez, Daniel (Lilia) Herrera, Diana (Clemente) Salinas, Ernesto C. (Cindy) Herrera, Araceli (Joseph) Wisnoski, Edna (Hector) Romero; sons, Ricardo (Dora) Garcia Jr., Sergio D. Garcia, Amanda Benavides, Eduardo J. (Angelique) Garcia; grandchildren: Rebecca Nicole Garcia, Vanessa Elizabeth Garcia, Corinna Deandra Garcia, Mickayla Janelle Garcia, Eduardo J. (E.J.) Garcia, Mia Angelique Garcia, Nomar Joel Garcia as well as Damiana Augusta Benavides, Adan Manuel Benavides, Lisbeth Amanda Benavides, Emille Natalia Benavides, Charles Villa, Timothy Villa; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
