On December 28, 2017, Juanita G. Flores passed away in her sleep at the age of 71. Juanita was a loving and kind woman who touched the heart of everyone she met.
Born in Laredo, TX on February 25, 1946 to Isaac and Aurelia Garza, Juanita was the eldest of 11 children.
Early on, she worked at her family's business, Heights Meat Market; then later became a substitute for United Independent School District. A loyal and caring individual, Juanita took care of her parents until their passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Aurelia Garza; her two brothers, Isaac Garza Jr. and Armando Garza; and her sister-in-law, Veronica Garza.
She is survived by Hector Flores Sr.; her children, Sara Alicia (Albert Jr.) Brewster, Viola (Luis Jr.) Ibarra, Hector (Lupita) Flores Jr., and Analia (Jesus IV) Hinojosa; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 8 siblings; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Juanita cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting outdoors and watching her great-grandchildren play in her yard. She also enjoyed listening to music and playing loteria with her family.
Juanita was a genuine person with a heart of gold. Her love and kindness to others, along with her beauty and desire to always look her best will forever be remembered.
Her children want to extend their sincerest gratitude to her physician, Dr. Carlos Casas-Zaragoza; sister, Nora Hernandez; and caregiver, Roberta Melendez.
The family will receive condolences on Monday, January 1, 2018, from 5 to 9 in the evening at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez; with a Rosary at 7 in the evening.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2017, departing the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. to St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 2710 Boulanger St., for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be: Albert Brewster III, Jesus Hinojosa V, Luis Ibarra III, Hector Flores III, Steven Brewster, Jose Luis Castillo, Esequiel Castillo, and Andres Jasso.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Gerardo Garza, Hector Flores Sr., Hector Flores Jr., Albert Brewster Jr., Luis Ibarra Jr., Lionel Ibarra, Jesus Hinojosa IV, and Ismael Hinojosa.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
