Juan Vedia

Juan Antonio “Tony” Vedia, a native of Laredo, Texas was called home by our heavenly father on March 29, 2017 at the age of 65.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a dedicated and compassionate nurse for over 20 years always thinking of his patients. Fishing with his children and grandchildren was his passion. Every Thursday, rain or shine, you could find Tony with his friends shooting pool at the 68 club.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Augustin and Maria Del Carmen Vedia; and his brother Jose Angel Vedia.

Surviving Tony is his loving wife, Mary Ann Treviño Vedia; his children, Christina Vedia, Juan Antonio Vedia, Jr., Nicholas (Colleen) Darley, Brent (Jessica) Darley, Christopher (Katie) Darley; his grandchildren, Camron Darley, Aislinn Darley, Estelle Darley, Avri Darley, and Jaydiv Darley. He is also survived by his siblings, Maria Elena (Miguel) Gonzalez, Agustin (Rosa) Vedia, Julieta (Victor) Peña, Angelina (Florentino) Martinez, Daniel (Sylvia) Vedia, Estela Martinez, Jose Maria Vedia, Carmen Villalobos, Margarita Hernandez, Magdalena (Jorge) Luna, Gerardo (Julie) Vedia, and Rosalio Vedia; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and close friends.

The family would like to send their utmost gratitude for the compassionate care he received at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 6 to 9 in the evening at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Liturgy of the Word will be offered at 6 in the evening by Rev. Noel Davis.

Cremation services will be held at a later date.
