Mr. Juan V. Santos 92 passed away Thursday March 15, 2018 to be with the Lord God All Mighty. The son of Herculano and Juanita Santos was born on March 28, 1925 in Robstown, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle who dedicated his life to working hard for his family and living according to the laws sent by God. All who knew him will always remember him for his ready smile and wit.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific front in the 807th Engineering Aviation Battalion. He was a civil service employee at Laredo Air Force Base and U.S. Naval Station in Corpus Christi, Texas. After retirement he also worked for Laredo Independent School District at the warehouse facilities on Lyon.
He married Dolores Rogerio on August 6th, 1951 and raised seven children. They were married for 54 years.
He is preceded by his wife Dolores Rogerio, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Herculano Santos, brothers Manuel, Gregorio, and Julio Santos, sister Antonia Lopez, sister in law Maria Luisa Santos, and brothers in law Manuel Robledo, and Nicolas Lopez.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Sandra E. (Fernando J.) Guerra, Idalia I. (James) Newton, Belinda D, (Ernesto) Sanchez, Adriana A. (Rolando) Cobos and sons: Gerardo R. (Amparo), Juan (Jesse), Roberto E. (Esmeralda) Santos. Grandchildren: Veronica D. (Mark) Ulrich, Yemile M. (Mikael) and Fernando J. Guerra Jr., Gerardo, Ysela (Vince) González, Alyissa (Patrick) Santos, Antonio Sánchez, Juan Jose and Aliana Cobos, Ashton, Cristina D. and Kimberly A. Santos. Great-grandchildren: Joseph and Kaytlynn Ulrich, Madaline, Viviana and Salvador Gonzalez, and Riley Santos. His sister from Wasco, CA, Maria Eliza Robledo and sister-in-law Sara Habib-Perez, as well as by various nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank a special friend his care giver, Socorro Vanoye for her dedication and loyalty to our father's care. We like to thank Nurses on Wheel staff, Father Hector Flores, and Doctor Luis Benavides. Nurses: Mary, Vicky, Nora, Sonia, and Pablo. Nurse’s assistants, Mari and Dina. South Texas Primary Care and Luis Alvarez. A special thanks to Nurse Liza Diaz from St. Jude for your guidance into the hospice program.
The family will receive condolences on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel, 719 Loring at Cortez; with visiting hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
Funeral procession will depart the chapel on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will proceed to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 59.
Pallbearers will be: Juan Santos Jr., Roberto E. Santos, Gregorio Santos Jr. Roman Santos, Gerardo Santos Jr., Fernando J. Guerra Jr., Antonio Sanchez, and Ashton Santos.
