Juan Medellin, Sr.

August 12, 1949 — January 15, 2015

Juan Francisco "Frank" Medellin, Sr., passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the age of 65. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Francisco & Concepcion Medellin; his sister, Silvia Medellin; his brother, Guadalupe Medellin; and brother-in-law, Leopoldo Verdiguel. Frank is survived by his wife Mary Alice of 43 years; 2 children, Elizabeth (Pat) Rolon, and Frankie (Cathy) Medellin; 6 grandchildren, Jasmine, Jordan, Patrick, Ancia, Lorenzo, and Trey; and 2 great-grandsons, Jayden and Ezari. He is also survived by his brothers, Juan Jose Medellin, Miguel (Adela) Medellin, Raul (Veronica) Medellin, Martin (Maricela) Medellin, and Jose Luis (Sara) Medellin; sisters, Maria del Carmen Granados, Maria Estela (Ovidio) Mireles, Linda (Ray) White, Concepcion (Basilio) Hernandez, and Dora Verdiguel; and by his sister-in-law, Lydia Medellin. Frank retired from General Motors in Lansing, Michigan where he served for 33 years (1967-2000). He was the co-founder for the Tejano Sound Band from Lansing, Michigan and was the driver for the group until his retirement in 2003. After his retirement he came to Laredo in 2005 to work with his brother Raul Medellin. He then was employed by Pilot Thomas Logistics from June 2014 up until his untimely death. Frank was a very loving, caring person that was loved by so many people especially his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also loved joking and teasing those that were close to him. You could always find Frank on the grill, but his main passion was riding his Harley Davidson and most of all he loved kids! Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez. A Religious service will commence at 6 p.m. and a Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. The Family would like to thank everyone who has extended their kind expressions of sympathy, offered prayers, or words support.
