JOSEPH BRUNO NALASCHI, CSM, US ARMY, RETIRED

APRIL 30, 1928 – FEBRUARY 24, 2018

Mr. Joseph Bruno Nalaschi, CSM, US Army, Retired, 89 generous, beloved, loving father, husband, grandfather and friend, entered into his eternal rest on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Bethesda, Maryland.

Retired Command Sergeant Major Joseph Bruno Nalaschi served his country dutifully in the US Army for over 30 years. Joseph entered the US Army/Air Force and eventually transferred to the Army Airborne Division, where he was a member of the Reconnaissance group. He served in World War II, Korean War as well as held the title of US Army Food Service Inspector; a member of the Disable American Veterans Association and lifetime member of the American Legion Post 59.

He met Retired Command Sergeant Major Blanca Elena Varela-Nalaschi, a Laredoan, while serving his country. They married and moved to Laredo to make it their retirement home. While in Laredo, he became active in his faith by serving at St. Patrick Catholic Church in various associations.

Joseph is preceded in death by his first spouse: Barbara L. Nalaschi (1992); parents: Narcisco and Mary Cammarota Nalaschi of Italy; four brothers: Frances, Gino, Alberto and Dino, all from Oldforge, Pennsylvania; children: Barbara, Frances and Joseph.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his spouse of 23 years of marriage: Blanca Elena Varela-Nalaschi, CSM Ret. of Laredo; daughters: Eliza Nalaschi of Virginia and Mary Nolaschi of Maryland, as well as by a great number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends will be received at Pumphrey’s Funeral Home 300 W. Montgomery Ave. Rockville, MD 20850 on Wednesday February 28, 2018 from 12:30-1:30 PM where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 PM. Please view and sign online family guestbook at www.pumphreyfuneralhome.com

Rite of Committal and Interment with full Military Honors Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, RR #2 Indiantown Gap Rd., Annville, PA 17003 on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11:30 AM.
