JOSEPH E. MOORE

January 11, 1944 – February 01, 2018

A man of few words but deep strength, Joseph Edward Moore passed into eternal rest on Thursday, February 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. A businessman and rancher with an entrepreneur spirit, he and his wife of 48 years raised their four sons to be independent, self-assured and wise. A friend and mentor to many, he was encouraging and direct as he taught through hard work and problem solving.

Born and raised in Laredo, he began working in the family business at a young age that many Laredoans remember as “The Jiffy.” After completing his Bachelors in Business Administration, at then East Texas State University, he returned to Laredo, married his high school sweetheart and took over the family business. It grew from a neighborhood convenience store to a specialized retail business that catered to the outdoors man. He was an expert in firearm makes, models, parts, and repairs.

His sons remember him as being strict but fair teaching them lifelong skills through example. His greatest pleasure was taking his sons and grandson with him to the ranch to grow and learn around the many animals they raised.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Adelaida Moore.

Surviving him are his beloved wife, Norma Clark Moore; children, Monte (Angie) Moore, Chris (Angela) Moore, Clark Moore, Robert (Jessica) Moore; grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Caitlin, Christen, Susan, Norman; sisters, Mona M. Hachar and Rosemary M. Lopez. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends.

The family expresses deep appreciation for the loving kindness, expertise, and patience to Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa for his care and treatment to their beloved husband, father, and brother.

The family will receive condolences on Saturday, the 3rd of February 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Chapel service officiated by Father Monsignor James Harris will commence at 11 a.m.

Interment will then follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers are his four sons, his grandson, Ryan, and his nephew Raymond Lopez.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
