JOSEPH LEE MCDOWELL

August 15, 1943 – January 23rd, 2024

Joseph Lee McDowell, 80, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. 

Joseph found joy and purpose in serving others. He was an active volunteer at CyLife Church, dedicating his time and effort to help those in need. One of his most cherished roles was spending quality time with his grandchildren and he always eagerly awaited family game nights, bingo, and attending their school events.

He was preceded in death by his wife Irma Leticia McDowell.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert (Anastasia) Villarreal, and daughter Brenda (Germaine) Abrams; 6 grandchildren, Nina Carlene Villarreal, Rivers Ani Villarreal, Bliss Rose Villarreal, Martin Anthony McDowell, Christopher Joseph Abrams, and Nina Leticia Abrams; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. 

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, February 2, 2024 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, February 3, 2024 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to St. John Neumann Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be: Sergio Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez, Mario Rodriguez, Leslie Joseph Davis, Martin Anthony McDowell, and Christopher Joseph Abrams.
