Josefina Lopez

August 27, 2022 — September 28, 2013

JOSEFINA ALVARADO LPEZ August 27, 1922 - September 28, 2013 Josefina Alvarado Lpez, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully entered eternal sleep on September 28, 2013, surrounded at her bedside by her loved ones at the age of 91. Mrs. Lopez was born on August 27, 1922, to her parents Porfirio and Maria de Jesus Alvarado. Throughout her life she relished the quality time spent with her family. Grandma as she was affectionately called, was especially fond of singing and dancing with the love of her life. She married her lifelong "Sugar", Oscar Lopez, Sr., on May 14, 1944, and they remained happily married for sixty-nine years. Together they had four children: Sylvia, Rosie, Annie, and Oscar Jr. Mrs. Lopez greatest joy was spending time and taking care of her four grandchildren and recently a great granddaughter, all of whom share their own specific and fond memories. She was proud of their every accomplishment, but pushed them to excel further. Grandma along with Grandpa stressed the importance of education to their children, and laid a solid foundation of that principle for the family. She was extremely active as a member of the PTA and served some time as the Bruni Elementary PTA President and District PTA President. She sacrificed many of her dreams and ambitions for those of her kids. Grandma was very active in all of her children's and grandchildren's school functions. She is remembered for her generous heart, caring ways, and the unconditional love she gave her family. Mrs. Lopez always volunteered her time at numerous church gatherings and helping those in need. Her biggest satisfaction was the joy on someone's face. Her family will miss her delicious recipes of various dishes especially her mole, and her one of a kind, potato salad. She is welcomed to the Heavenly Paradise by our Savior and her parents, Porfirio and Mara de Jess Alvarado; sisters, Leonor Benavides (Ramiro) and Guadalupe Sotelo (Manuel); brothers, José Alvarado, Nicols Alvarado and Porfirio Alvarado (Olivia); parents-in-law, Santiago and Julia Lpez; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Fernando Lpez, Santiago Lpez (Esther), Arturo Lpez, Francisco Lpez (Hortencia), Gilberto Lpez and Emma Snchez (Rodolfo). She will be forever remembered in the hearts of those rejoicing her life including her beloved husband, Oscar Lpez, Sr.; children Sylvia L. Garca (Manuel), Rosie L. Escobar, Ana Mara Escamilla (José ngel), and Oscar Lpez, Jr.; grandchildren, Sylvia Jean Garca, Yvonne M. Garca, Joaqun Escobar (Jackie) and Joseph ngelo Escamilla; and great-granddaughter, Briella Escobar. She is also survived by her sister, Andrea Medina (Ral); brother-in-law, José "Pepe" Lpez; sisters-in-law, Olga Lpez, Minerva Lpez, Yolanda Lpez and Alicia Lpez; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends. The family would like to thank her brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Pepe and Olga Lopez, and her niece, Diana Salinas, for always being there and valuing our loved one. On behalf of the family, we would like to express our most sincere expression of gratitude to her primary physician Dr. Ildefonzo Flores and his staff for the special care they gave our beloved Josefina. We also would like to thank Dr. Armando Hinojosa for his care and attention to our grandmother at certain times.
