Josefina Lopez Cruz, 78, loving mother of 3 beautiful daughters, grandmother, and best friend, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Sunday, January 31, 2021.
Josefina, or more well known to her friends and family as “Fina” and “Grandma Josie”, was born on July 20, 1942 in Laredo, Texas to Antonio and Maria Anita (Martinez) Lopez. She graduated from the legendary Martin High school and was a part of the class of 1957. She was a devoted employee of IBC Bank for over 25 years and spent most of her time as the voice that greeted you at the bank. She was always willing to lend a helping hand with all workplace and church activities with a grand smile. Josefina had a passion for dancing with her grandchildren and singing. You could always find her every Sunday morning attending her beloved Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia, where she volunteered as an usher, and welcomed all her brothers and sisters in Christ. However, her most favorite pastime was spending time with her family and attending any family celebration. Many of her friends and family members could attest to how she was able to fill a room with her amazing and loving personality. She was best known for her infectious smile, positive attitude, compassionate spirit, quick wit, and welcoming embrace. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Maria Anita (Martinez) Lopez; sister, Guadalupe (Guadalupe) Jaramillo; and nephew, Raúl Villegas, Jr.
Left to cherish in her memory are her daughters, Ana Laura Cruz, Raquel Canales (Jaime Del Bosque), and Cynthia (Aldo R.) Flores; siblings, Hortencia (Raul Sr.) Villegas and Alicia (Carlos) Mata; grandchildren, Priscilla (Juan Rodriguez), Lizette (Luis Alvarez), Rolando Lerma Jr., Luis R. Canales, Jr., Rene D. Alvarado, Estevan E. Flores, and Edgardo E. Flores; and 15 loving great-grandchildren, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 08, 2021 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia, 4519 E. Del Mar Blvd., Laredo, Texas 78041; where a Prayer Service will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday morning, February 09, 2021; a Chapel Service will be held at 10 a.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
