Mr. Jose Manuel Solis, 74, entered into God's heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in his residence, surrounded by his loving and caring family at his side. Jose Manuel was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Manuel and Maria de Jesus Montemayor-Solis. He was educated in Laredo, Texas, where he lived most of his life. It was during his high school years at St. Joseph's Academy that he met the love of his life, Diana Benavides. It was that love that blossomed into 50 plus years of marriage. Together with his wife, they raised 4 daughters who were his pride and joy. Jose was a passionate rancher who enjoyed the old style of ranching. He took pride and joy in visiting and working at his ranch, Los Milagros. As a man of the field, he enjoyed and loved horses and the equestrian life, having been a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association for some time. Several of Jose's accomplishments and public service attributes include serving two terms in the City of Laredo Council as a councilman in the mid 70's having partaken in the erection of the Bridge No. 2 in 1976, and whose plaque is inscribed with his name along with the councilmember's and mayor at the time. He was a Real Estate and Custom House Broker as well as builder of many fine quality homes. One of his most important passions in life alongside his family was his love for the Dallas Cowboys. Now that he is in heaven, we only pray he watches over us and his "Boys" for a good season and hopeful post-season. In all his life, Jose Manuel Solis dedicated his love, energy, time and talent to serve his family, always giving them what they needed and wanted. All it took was for them to ask how far a father's love will go and the answer wasto infinite places. Now, at the close of a wonderful life, we thank God for the many blessings bestowed upon him and humbly ask that he receive him in the company of the angels and saints to await our reuniting with him one day. May you rest in peace. Amen. Left behind to continue his legacy is his wife of 50 years of marriage: Diana B. Solis; daughters: Diana (Albert) Lowry, Patricia (Jaime) Garcia, Monica (Jesus) Ruiz, Lourdes (John) Raney as well as his grandchildren: Victoria Eugeia Ruiz, AlexandriaYvanna Ruiz, Lourdes Kristina Ruiz, Carolina Lamar Garcia, Isabella Magali Garcia, John Matthew Raney. He is further survived by his sisters: Maria de la Paz (Ivan) Quintanilla and Olga (Mike) Buck as well as his close family friends: Delfino Diaz, Dr. Carlos Vela, Memo Vela and Bebe Montemayor; as well as numerous loved relatives and friends. We cannot forget to give thanks to caretaker Edgar de Luna who so lovingly took care of him at home, as well as his physicians who looked after his medical needs: Dr. Dennis Cantu and Dr. Carlos Cigarroa. May God continue to bless you in all that you do.
