Jose Ricardo Martinez, Jr. entered peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Monday, December 21, 2015. He was born in Laredo, Texas and was the son of Jose Ricardo and Eloisa Martinez. He was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife of 55 years, the late Amada "Molly" Martinez.
Jose proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1966. He was employed as a conductor with the Union Pacific Railroad for 34 years. He was also a master plumber and owner of Joe's Plumbing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Eloisa Martinez; wife, Amada "Molly" Martinez; sister, Rosario Martinez Arce; and his grandson, Joseph Martinez.
He leaves behind his loving memories to always be cherished by his six children and sixteen grandchildren who include: Richard (Irma) and grandson Samuel K.; Dr. Robert Al (Rhonda) and grandsons, Robert Jr. (Jordan), Austin, Steven, and the late Joseph Martinez; Raul and grandchildren, Jose, Marina, and Veronica; Dr. JoAnn Martinez and grandson, Jacob Davis; Jackie (Virgil) Gutierrez and grandchildren, Justin, Carlos, Jerek, and Molly; and Jessica (Leonardo) Gonzalez and grandsons, Joey, Jake, and Leonardo III. He is survived by his sister, Patsy Adams and brother, Dr. Gustavo Martinez.
The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, where a Vigil and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday morning, December 24, 2015 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.
