JOSE HUMBERTO MARTINEZ July 10, 1933 - October 31, 2015 A soldier here on Earth and so he shall be for our Lord in his Kingdom of Heaven. Jose Humberto Martinez age 82, was called home on Saturday October 31st, 2015 at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in San Antonio, Texas after a series of health complications. Jose was a United States Marine Corp Veteran who served in the Korean War, an avid hunter and a Dallas Cowboy fan. He was born and raised in Laredo, Texas and after his service in the Marine Corp. to this great nation he followed in his father's footsteps and began his career working for the Texas Mexican Railway where he acquired the nickname "El Super" for his super human strength and stamina. "El Super" retired from the Texas Mexican Railway after 35 years. The discipline, bravery, and love his parents instilled in him and the patriotism he exhibited in the Marine Corp. never left him, as friends and family will attest. Semper Fidelis, a quality that never faltered in Jose. Once a Marine Always a Marine, he battled until the end. He was preceded in death by parents Luis G. and Consuelo S. Martinez and brothers: Raymundo (Beatrice) Martinez and Gabriel (Elsa) Martinez. Jose is survived by his wife, Gloria Uribe Martinez of 57 years and four children: Griselda (Javier) De Leon, Jackie (Luis A.) Gonzalez, Jose (Dolores) H. Martinez, Jr., and Jeanette (Ricardo) Flores; Sisters: Gloria (Tomas) Gonzalez and Consuelo (Carlos) Lopez; Grandchildren: Rosalie De Leon, Javier (Jemimah) De Leon, Jr, Jessica (Louie) Lozano, Vanessa Chapa, Felicia (Jean Karlo) Rivera, Stephanie Martinez, Humberto D. Martinez, Luis A. Martinez, Jossette A. Flores, Karina I. Gonzalez, and Madison L. Flores; Great Grandchildren: Leleyna Mendoza, Samantha Carreon, Tommy Martinez, Destiny Ramos, Louie Lozano, David Cruz, and Hannah De Leon and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel, 1410 Jacaman Road, Laredo, Texas 78041; followed by a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral procession will depart at 8 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from the funeral home to San Luis Rey Church, 100 E. Ash, Laredo, Texas 78041 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 a.m. Interment will then follow to the Laredo City Cemetery.
