JOSE GERARDO GONZALEZ MAY 29, 1961 - SEPTEMBER 5, 2015 Jose Gerardo Gonzalez, born on May 29, 1961 in Laredo, Texas went to be with our lord on September 5, 2015 at a local hospital in San Antonio at the age of 54. Jerry graduated from Nixon High School in 1978 and worked for several years with the Texas Mexican Railways. He lived in San Antonio since July 1994 up till his passing. Jerry was a very caring father, grandfather, a wonderful son, and a very good brother. He enjoyed making people laugh with his jokes and was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. Thank you Jerry for being a part of our family. We love you so much and miss you. Some day we will all be together again in our Lord's kingdom. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Carolina Gonzalez; and his birth mother, Maria Lucila Vela who passed on to a better life on June 19, 2015; and his sister Florencia Navarro. He is survived by his four sons, Jose Alberto Vidaurri of Laredo, Jose Gerardo Gonzalez, Jr., Jose Manuel Gonzalez, and Jose Francisco Gonzalez of San Antonio; three grandsons and one granddaughter; brother, Rosendo (Teresa) Salazar, Jr. of San Antonio; sisters, Juanita (Pedro) Cisneros of Laredo, Lupita (Anival) Gonzalez and Cande (Sergio) Ortiz of San Antonio. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts from Laredo, San Ygnacio, Minnesota, Albuquerque, and San Antonio. The family will be receiving friends and family on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez, where a Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Procession will depart immediately at 10:45 a.m. from the funeral home to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
