JOSE R. “JOE” GARZA

February 24, 1935 – December 10, 2024

Jose R. “Joe” Garza, 89, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. 

As a long-time employee of HEB for 39 years, Jose’s commitment and diligence not only contributed to the success of the company but also made a lasting impact on his colleagues and those he served. His warm smile and kind demeanor will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Graciela N. Garza, parents: Jose Garza and Adelina Gutierrez Garza, and sister and brother-in-law Alicia (Refugio †) Garcia.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jose Garza Jr., Rita (Jorge) Cabello, Veronica (Victor) Castillo, Elma (Peter) Martinez and Ricky (Cristina) Garza; grandchildren: Joe Michael (Sally) Garza, Corina (Joe) Grace, Victoria Alejandra (Ty) Creel, Clarissa (Michael) Bossaller, Gabriella Teresa Castillo, Cristina Cabello, Victor Alonso Castillo, Diego Cabello, and Elizabeth Grace Martinez, great-grandchildren: Minerva Jade Garza and William Castian Creel; Siblings: Roberto (Graciela) Garza and Graciela (Gilberto †) Sanmiguel as well as numerous, relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, December 15, 2024 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will be recited beginning at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, December 16, 2024 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow immediately at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Laredo, Texas.

Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force and the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Michael Garza, Diego Cabello, Victor Alonso Castillo, Ricky Garza, Joe Grace, and Michael Bossaller.
