JOSE CHAVARRIA, JR. February 27, 1928 - October 19, 2013 Mr. Jose Chavarria, Jr., 85 years old, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Jose was born in Laredo, Texas on February 27, 1928 to Jose Chavarria, Sr. and Asencion M. Chavarria. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was enlisted in the National Guard Reserve for 12 years. Jose was a humble, loving, caring and hardworking individual. He was part of the Optimist Club in 1968, Boy Scouts, Little League, and the Knights of Columbus with Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. In 1968, he opened his own business, Chavarria Hardware on 1218 Clark Blvd., and proudly worked there until he retired in 1995. He will truly be missed, but his memory will live forever in our hearts and minds. He was preceded in death by his son, Jose Chavarria, III, grandchildren, Patricia and Victor Chavarria; parents, Jose and Asencion Chavarria; brothers, Arturo Chavarria, Alberto Chavarria, Refugio Chavarria; and sister, Josefina Alaniz. Jose will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Asuncion Chavarria and his children; son, Fernando (Sara) Chavarria; daughters, Sylvia Camao, and Adriana Chavarria. He is also survived by his daughter in law, Elvira (Jose ) Chavarria, III; brother, Ernesto Chavarria; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other loved relatives and friends. The family would like to thank his caretaker, Anali Arreola for all of your patience, kindness, and dedication. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Road with a Rosary scheduled to begin promptly at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning, October 23, 2013 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. A Private Cremation will be held at a later date.
