Joe Garcia III

Joe Garcia, III, (Little Joe or Three Sticks) a doting husband, devoted father, adoring son and loving brother, who had an irresistible zeal for fun, play, and laughter, died Sun., Nov. 4 after a 16-month courageous battle with stomach-esophageal cancer. He fought his disease with the type of valor and dignity admired in the super-heroes he was an ardent fan of.-He was 37.

An explosives engineer for Schlumberger for 13 years and most recently with Pioneer, Garcia was born on July 7, 1975 and was raised in Encinal, TX. He graduated from Cotulla High School in 1993. He attended the University of Texas at Austin for two years. He made Laredo his home in 2000. Garcia married his high school crush, Xochitl Mora, on December 21, 2002. Together, they had four children and created a home filled with rambunctious energy, controlled chaos, hilarity, and happiness.

His wife said "I was so blessed to be loved by him and to experience every day of our short time together the absolute joy and happiness he brought to my heart. I am thankful that is legacy will live on in our four beautiful boys, all such perfect mini-versions of a truly, super man."

Garcia is survived by: his wife, Xochitl Mora Garcia; his sons, Joe Garcia, IV, Xavier Marco Garcia, Julian Maximiliano Garcia, and Joaquin Alexandro Garcia; his parents Joe and Elda Garcia, Jr. (Encinal, Tx); his sisters, Analee (Omar) Chapa (Encinal, Tx) and Anabel (Cyrus) Cantu (Dilley, Tx); and his in-laws, Maria F. Sobrevilla (Cotulla, Tx), Homer and Virginia Mora (Falfurrias, Tx) and sisters and broter-in-law Sonya (Enrique) Aleman, Sylvia (Gerald) Gonzales, BS Sergio Mora; his nieces and nephews, Savanna, Oriana, Renee, Alejandra, Omar, II, Andrew, Andrea, Adelaida, Marko, Diego, Gema, Nayeli, Andres and Dominik. Garcia is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jose Garcia Sr. and Maria Garcia, as well as maternal grandparents, Alvaro Gonzalez and Gabriela Gonzalez (Encinal).
