Joe B. Finley, Jr., 87, entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 10, 2011.-
He served 4 years with 112th Calvary Unit in the United States Armed Forces in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
During his lifetime Mr. Finley's accomplishments include being a Founding Board Member of United Independent School District, and serving as a board member or officer for 32 years, Chairman of the Texas Animal Health Commission, President of the United States Animal Health Commission, Rancher of the Year for Webb County, Director of L.I.F.E. Downs, and as a director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Grinnan Finley and his daughters, Alice Finley (Edward Jr. deceased) Richter, Ana Maria Finley, Amanda Finley (Lee) Lasater, Amy Finley (Jeff) Fischer, and Mary Joe Finley (Jim) Cranny; 3 grandchildren, Emily, Katie, and Josef Fischer and sister-in-law, Alice Grinnan Foard.-He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Mark Deutsch, Carroll Schubert, Will Nixon, Juan Suarez, III, Edward "Wayito" Leyendecker, III, Santiago "Chago" Cruz, Jeff Fischer and Jim Cranny.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ed B. Avery, DVM, Ernest Bruni, Jr., Jimmy Castellaw, Russell Deutsch, Seymon Deutsch, Hugh Fitzsimmons, III, Dr. Raymond R. Kirsch, Sr., Leland R. Lasater, George E. Light, III, Adalberto Ramirez, III, Hal Sears, William Stewart and Gene Walker.
