Jesus Villarreal

April 15, 1946 — August 17, 2016

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Jesus Rolando Villarreal, 70, joined our Lord in his heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Villarreal Jr. and mother, Emma Villarreal.

Roly was born on April 15, 1946 in Laredo, Texas. His early education began at Ursuline Academy and St. Joseph's Academy. He later entered the Laredo public school system and excelled in his favorite sport which was football. He played running back position for the Mighty Tigers. Roly was a proud graduate of Martin High School and later attended LJC and Cooke County College. He later served his country during the Vietnam War where he was part of the 2d battalion, 36th artillery division. He was assigned in the Quang Tri Province about ten miles from the DMZ. Roly worked in the construction industry as a safety facilitator for many years. He was loved by his family and blessed with the ability to make lifelong friendships.

Left to cherish his memory are: his daughter, Cynthia (Enrique III) Coronado; his sister, Diana (Jeffrey ) Erickson; his brother, Ricardo Villarreal; grandchildren, Carys and Enrique IV Coronado; nephew, Ricardo Villarreal Jr.; and nieces, Cathryn Villarreal and Dawn M. Erickson.

The family would like to express their utmost gratitude to his group of physicians and nurses at LMC and Healing Experts Home Health who cared for him during his illness. Also a heartfelt thank you to all of his wonderful friends, especially Jesus "Gero" Segovia and Orlando Reyes who never left his side.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Prayer Service will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, August 22, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at New Life Assembly of God, 4402 E. Saunders St., Laredo, Texas 78041. All attending are asked to please gather at church as there will be no funeral procession from the funeral chapel.

Interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by: American Legion Post 59 and Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be: Jesus "Gero" Segovia, Raymundo Pena, Johnny Villarreal, Louie Villarreal, Manuel Garcia III, Nino Rodriguez, Noe Esparza, and Ricardo Villarreal Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: All of the members of the Laredo Veterans Coalition, Roberto Meza, Rafael "Pie" Martinez, Jose Luis Gamez, Andres Bernal, Manuel "Blinker" Perez, Bobby Gonzalez, Conrado M. Hein Jr., and Orlando Reyes.
