JESUS “JESSE” GUILLEN

December 29, 1967 - December 08, 2017

Our hearts are heavy but Heaven is rejoicing for Jesus Guillen, who entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 8, 2017, at 49 years of age.

Jesse was born on December 29, 1967, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Francisco, CA, to Guillermo and Hortensia Guillen. We had a small house in Colma, CA and eventually moved to a larger home in San Jose, CA, once the youngest sibling, Ed, was born.

In July 1989, Jesse met and fell in love with Sarah Solis, his soon to be wife and mother of his children. Jesse realized life was no longer just about him so he studied and received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M International University. He then achieved his life-long goal of becoming an attorney when he graduated from the University of Houston Law School in 2000. As all of us are well aware, his argumentative skills for law started well before he obtained his degree.

Jesse is well known for his beautiful smile, quick wit, and sarcastic commentary. Most of all, he is known for the genuine friendship that he frequently offered and gave whole-heartedly. He was generous yet always encouraged “you” to pick up the tab while cheering on his favorite sports teams, the SA Spurs, the SF Giants, and the Dallas Cowboys. Oh, and what about his love for music? Yes, we believe that everyone can name a song or two that would tickle his fancy and have him singing away. For the curious, we will share his first musical obsession - “Knock Three Times” by Tony Orlando and Dawn. As you can guess, he played it over and over and over…

Jesse once said “I love living in Laredo. I feel like a big fish in a small pond.” We think he must have thought of himself as a character from “Cheers” since he was larger than life. We could easily decipher how he knew someone by his nickname. “Chuy” was reserved for extended family, “Jethro” from his sister and brother, “Mijo” from momma, “Zeus” from childhood friends, and “Big Daddy” from his Laredo friends. Most importantly, he was called “Dad” by his children and “Honey” by his wife.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Sarah; children, Kristina, Jay, Jacob and Nicholas; father, Guillermo; mother, Hortensia; sister, Barbara; brother, Eduardo, and his extended family.

We, the Guillen family, have a gift that has been inherited from generations past - all friends that come into our lives become family. As a family, we ask you to join us in praying for his everlasting peace.
