JESUS MANUEL GONZALEZ SR. April 26, 1926 - April 27, 2014 On the feast day of Our Divine Mercy, Jesus Manuel Gonzalez Sr. entered the gates of heaven with celebration in meeting our Lord Jesus Christ. Known to many as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, he enjoyed hunting, dancing, and family reunions. Also known to his country as a war hero, he served in World War II and the Korean War as a Sergeant receiving a Korean war metal and two bronze stars. He was assigned to the 5467th ordnance co. as a part of the 3rd army under General George Patton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Morales de Gonzalez; four children, Jesus Manuel (Nora) Gonzalez Jr., Sylvia Laura (Paulino) Landa Gonzalez, Sergio Rene (Lorena) Gonzalez, Maribel (Bruce) Burks Gonzalez; ten grandchildren, Nora Yvette (Adrian) Aguilar, Jesus Manuel Gonzalez III, Eduardo David Landa, Paul (Angela) Landa Jr., Jose Ramon (Michelle) Gonzalez, Ivan Rene (Amber) Gonzalez, Monica Lizzette (Paul) Silvas, Aaron Sergio Gonzalez, Andrea Mari Villarreal, Tamika Raquel Gonzalez; and great grandchildren, Eduardo, Michael, Marcos, Daniel, Phillip, Carolina, Andrew, Zephyr, Vivian, Nathan, Arianna, Noah, and Sophia. Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you all with joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 02, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapel, 1410 Jacaman Rd. A Rosary will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Funeral procession will depart on Saturday, May 03, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will then follow to the Laredo City Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Post Legion 59 and Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard.
