Javier Martinez

May 27, 1935 — August 7, 2010

Into the arms of his Heavenly Father in Heaven and surrounded by a loving and caring family that mourns his loss, Mr. Javier H. Martinez, 75 years, answered the Lord's call on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at a local hospital.-He was born in Laredo, TX on May 27, 1935 and was a lifelong resident of Laredo.

Mr. Martinez was a proud "Tiger" graduate of Martin High School, class of 1954.-

On September 28, 1956, he was inducted into the Armed Forces of the United States of America, Department of the US Army, where he proudly and courageously served his country during the Korean Conflict, having been honorably discharged on August 22, 1958.

Javier married the love of his life, Mary P. Martinez and together spent over 50 dedicated and loved filled years together, having been blessed with six loving children.

Before joining the U.S. Army he married Mary P. Martinez, his loving wife of over 50 years.-Together Mary and Javier were blessed with six loving children.

Mr. Martinez leaves behind a legacy of instilling the importance of faith, worship and God to his children which has and will be passed on for generations to come.-Javier was a devout Catholic, having been an active parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church and prior to its construction, was also a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church.-Several of his faithful commitments included his involvement with the Marriage Encounter and the Cursillo movement.-

He gave 42 years of service to the Texas Mexican Railway and in order to give his family a better quality of life, he worked other jobs such as;-Ramirez Minimax, El Rio Family Center and Jett Bowl.-

Javier Martinez will be remembered by all who knew him as always putting his love for his wife, children and family first above all.-Adding to his legacy is his avid sporting activities and interests such as:-baseball, playing and coaching baseball, bowling, golfing and fishing.

He will be welcomed into heaven by his son:-Carlos R. Martinez; parents:-Loreto & Agapita Guerra Martinez; and brother:-Hector A. Martinez.

He leaves behind a loving spouse of over 50 years of marriage:-Mary P. Martinez; sons and daughters:-Mary M. Benavides, Javier H. (Patricia) Martinez, Ricardo L. (Rosie) Martinez, Christina Y. Martinez, and Veronica A. (Jorge) Diaz.-A joyful addition and extension to the Martinez family are his grandchildren:-Amanda Marie (Jacob) Gonzalez, Michael Anthony Martinez, Rene Martinez, Edgar Martinez, Jorge Alberto Diaz, Andres Sabastian Diaz, and Alexandro Ivan Diaz.-Also surviving him is his sister:-Gloria M. Beltran; brother:-Raul R. (Graciela) Martinez as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mr. Javier Martinez has been called by his commander in heaven, leaving us a void in our hearts that can only be healed by the faith, love and support he instilled in us throughout the years.-We will miss you dearly.
