James Kirby Hines, 78, entered eternal rest on Saturday July 6, 2024.
Jim Hines was born in Laredo, Texas and was a graduate of Martin High School. Upon graduation he attended Loyola University. He graduated from Houston Baptist University with degrees in Finance and Accounting. He tutored and developed friendships which later led him to employment with Retzloff Delta/Westrade USA. He continued throughout his life to mentor those around him. He was a good listener and always had a way to teach and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone.
His professional goal as a businessman was to grow the rice industry to help stop world hunger. In this capacity he struck up a lifelong relationship and partnership with Raimundo Riojas. Throughout his career with the Riojas family, he traveled to over 50 countries as President of Westrade USA, CEO of Riceco and General Manager of Prorice.
Jim always sought to maximize adventure and live life to the fullest, whether it was barefoot water skiing, black diamond ski runs, riding fast motorcycles, racing cars, and the list goes on. Not to mention his adventures with hunting and fishing. He never lost his love for cars, motorcycles and his flamboyant wardrobe.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roque William Hines and Elva Roach Hines; uncles: Oscar Hines and Virgil Hines.
