Irma C. Ortega, 77, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
She was born in Agualeguas, N.L., Mexico to Feliciano and Rosa Cantú. Irma attended Colegio Commercial Camacho Gomez in Monterrey Mex, a bilingual clerical school where she received high academic honors. The majority of her career was spent as forwarding agent and customs house broker expeditor where she assisted international importers and exporters in meeting Federal requirements governing shipping, imports, and exports. For 30 years she worked with Despachos Del Norte and 15 years with Transmaritime. She assisted her son in his Tax & Financial Consulting firm until March 2020. Her professionalism and expertise in the field were recognized by her peers and clients alike. Her tenacity, perseverance, and attention to detail were her trademark as she always strove for excellence. She enjoyed walking every morning around Ryan Elementary, meeting with her friends to play cards, and sharing life stories. She was a tenacious friend, a fearsome poker player, and a loving mother to all of her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Fernando Ortega Vasquez, parents; Feliciano and Rosa Cantú, her brother Viviano Cantú Cantú, and sisters Marina Cantú Cantú, and Rosalinda († Alfredo) Cantú de Pizaña.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Irma Ortega (Geoff) Reiner, Fernando (Marisa) Ortega, Jr., grandchildren; Geoffrey C.H. Reiner, Henry S. Reiner, Fernando P. Ortega, Eduardo N. Ortega, sisters; Blanca († Juan Jose) C De Olvera, Fany Cantú Cantú, Yolanda (Mario) Cantú De Martinez, Doralilia Cantú Cantú, Leticia (Leopoldo) Cantú De Gonzalez, sister-in-law Norma Pinto de Cantú as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, April 28, 2022 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, April 29, 2022 departing at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Fernando Ortega Jr., Joseph A. Gage Jr., Jose A. Garcia, Geoffrey F. P. Reiner, Geoffrey C.H. Reiner, Henry S. Reiner, Mario Martinez Cantú, and Enrique Pizaña Cantú,
