Mrs. Irene Benavides de Treviño entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

She was a devout wife for 41 years, and loving mother. She was also a devout Catholic serving as a catechist at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and was an Hija de Maria when she was single and was an active Catholic Daughter until last year. She loved people and was a member of Senior Salud and Senior Circle.

In 1964, Mrs. Treviño opened the Benavides English Academy in which she taught English as a second language to business men and women of Laredo. She was also a paraprofessional for the Laredo Independent School District working at JC Martin Elementary and MS Ryan Elementary.

In 1999 she moved to the Ft. Worth metroplex and worked at Shady Oaks Country Club and for the Birdville Independent School District as a paraprofessional. She returned to Laredo in 2015.

She is proceeded in death by her sisters Ma. Gloria and Graciela, and her parents Matilde and Ma. de Los Angeles Benavides.

Irene is survived by her husband, Efrain H. Treviño Larralde; her daughter, Sara (Jose) M. Treviño de Mireles; her sons, Matthew (Diana) E. Treviño and James H. Treviño; and her granddaughters, Natalia and Xamara. She is also survived by her sister Marta (George) B. Kinslow, Hector Benavides, Enrique (Yolanda) Benavides, and Ricardo (Graciela) Benavides.

The family will be receiving condolences on Monday evening, June 12, 2017 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson Springfield Funeral Chapel, 1900 Springfield; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday morning, June 13, 2017 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Springfield Funeral Chapel to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
